Why get the Shingrix Vaccination?

Approximately 99% of adults over 50 who have contracted chickenpox have the shingles virus inside their body. The virus can reactivate at any time and increases as individuals age.  The CDC recommends individuals age 50 and older receive the Shingrix vaccine.

What is Shingles?

Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a rash on your body that can cause a lot of nerve pain.  The rash is caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus (the same virus that causes chickenpox).

Shingrix is not a live vaccine but there may be some mild side effects. The most common side effects from Shingrix are pain, redness and swelling at the injection site.
